Wendels Dogz is celebrating 10 years in business, and owner Wendie Parrish said she's loved every second of it.
Parrish started the business by offering dog walking and sitting to neighbours in West 91大黄鸭 after a senior man needed help with his dog, Tina Turner. One decade later, the animal lover said the business has taken on about 180 clients with well over 200 dogs and cats.
"People say to me, 'You work too much'. It's not work to me," Parrish said. "I love what I do."
Wendels Dogs offers dog walking, in-home sitting for dogs and cats, and dog boarding at the home of a staff member.
The Wendels Dogz team has grown to include 10 staff, with more than half of them certified in pet first aid.
"I've got a wonderful team. I don't have to bat an eye with any of them."
Parrish has stepped away from in-home sitting, letting her staff take on those bookings, but continues to board dogs in her home. She said there's a dog in her care almost all the time.
"I have a little time off in October, other than that I've got bookings right into 2026," Parrish said, adding many of her staff have bookings into the new year, also.
Wendels Dogz has served mainly West 91大黄鸭 residents over the years, but clients have flown Parrish to Calgary for in-home sitting. Parrish is now expanding her client reach to 91大黄鸭 and Lake Country, and has been in talks about having permanent staff in Calgary.
Over the last decade, Parrish said highlights have been helping seniors reaching the end of their life secure homes for their pets, teaching some of the dogs to swim, taking a wine tour with clients and their dogs, and hosting puppy pizza parties to show client appreciation.
