The KGH Foundation has brought a lottery back, giving one lucky person a chance to win cash, and to help the community.
On Friday, Aug. 1, the foundation announced the Heart of BC 50/50 Lottery and already has a jackpot over $180,000.
鈥淭he Heart of BC Lottery is more than a jackpot,鈥� said KGH Foundation CEO Allison Young. 鈥淟aunching on the weekend of B.C. Day reminds us how important it is to support our families, friends, neighbours, and the communities that make this region home.鈥�
Last year's lottery was the inaugural event and the funds raised have been making a difference as they have helped Sport for Life expand their Physical Activity and Literacy Program in elementary schools across the region, providing both in-person and online training for educators. This program gives kids a chance to stay active, which also provides mental health benefits.
Proceeds have also funded the YMCA of Southern Interior BC鈥檚 Health Promotion program.
鈥淲e鈥檝e already witnessed firsthand, the positive impact from the inaugural Heart of BC lottery this past February,鈥� said VP of Philanthropy at the YMCA SIBC Tammie Watson. 鈥淓very ticket sold is a direct investment in accessible programs and health care services for families and individuals across the Southern Interior.鈥�
