A Lumby man returned to Vernon鈥檚 Polson Park to celebrate 4-20 the friendly way.

Last April 20, Dan Hill set himself up at the Polson Park fountain with about 70 marijuana joints to give away to anyone of age as 鈥淐OVID-19 stress relief.鈥

This year he came prepared with goodies for all ages; while only offering cannabis to folks old enough to buy themselves, he had cupcakes for the younger ones.

鈥淎nd if someone looks too young, under 19, I ask them for their ID,鈥 he said.

I鈥檝e gotten a lot of 鈥楪od bless yous鈥 from people,鈥 he laughed.

Hill says he鈥檚 been taking part in 4-20 鈥 an unofficial celebration of cannabis that takes place every April 20 鈥 鈥渟ince 1974.鈥

This year he鈥檚 changed his signage: along with the invitation to a free joint or a cannabis-free cupcake, he shared the name of his YouTube channel, 鈥淐hurch of Hakad.鈥

鈥淚 just talk about people who鈥檝e done good things for other people,鈥 he said of the channel. 鈥淚 just like to inform people about things they might not know.鈥

With arms folded, shades on and donning a cowboy hat, Hill said some people don鈥檛 find him approachable, but those who do strike up a conversation with him usually say he鈥檚 鈥渘ot that bad of a guy.鈥

鈥淚鈥檝e been married to the same woman 35 years, I raised my granddaughter (and) I鈥檇 be the first person to help you if you鈥檙e in difficulties.鈥
