Now is the time to get involved with this year's Operation Duck Drop.
The new-look charity event, set for Sunday, Sept. 14, will see a helicopter drop rubber ducks onto a tarp at Okanagan Lake to raise funds for the Animal Lifeline Emergency Response Team Society.
Community members can , with the person who owns the duck closest to the middle of the tarp taking home $1,000, while the one furthest from the middle will be worth $100.
This will mark the third annual edition of the event after rubber ducks were dropped off a bridge by a group of volunteers on Green Mountain Road and into the Penticton River Channel in 2023 and 2024.
More than 2,600 ducks were purchased last year, in support of the Dragonfly Pond Society and BC Firefighters Burn Fund.
This year, one duck will also be randomly drawn for a $500 prize. Top Flight, the event's presenting sponsor, has provided a chopper for the festivities.

The event, taking place at Rotary Park by Okanagan Lake, will also feature food and live music.
