The Sicamous Chamber of Commerce is tuning into a lot of local talent for this year's Music in the Park lineup.
The seven week summer series will feature three bands from the Shuswap and Revelstoke, filled out by other performers also based fairly close to home.
The concert series starts out in Deep Trouble, a Shuswap band with a Sicamous connection that came together during the wildfires of 2023. They delve into a mash up of rock, punk and disco, which they've dubbed Pisco, that all blends to create a unique sound.
Following that on July 14 is the Rockaholicks, a 91大黄鸭-based group that plays everything from classic rock to today's hits with female vocals, guitar, bass and drums. Revelstoke's Corn Starr then takes the stage on July 21 with what they call "pure hard rock and some good ol' country."
Audience favourite Daring Greatly returns on July 28 and, while they're not local and currently based in San Diego, have close ties to the area and loyal fan base. The five-man band blends classic '70s rock with current soul, folk and country influences for a sound that appeals to everyone.
Rockinomix, a "high octane party band," takes the series into August, playing on the fourth. Formed in Invermere after an impromptu jam session between neighbours, the classic rock band has since rocked out from Yellowknife to Tsawwassen at fundraisers, bike rallies, casinos and everything between.
Aug. 11 will be Livin' on a Prayer with Calgary-based Bon Jovi tribute band Runaway, before locals take the stage again to close out the series.
Headway, a five-piece variety band from the Sicamous area, will give the final performance on Aug. 18 with a high energy mix of classic rock, country and disco.
The shows place every Monday night July 7 to Aug. 18 at 6:30 p.m. in Finlayson Park, with admission by donation.
