Central Okanagan Search and Rescue deployed its ropes team to rescue a dog stranded near the Oyama Lookout on May 25, 2025.

Central Okanagan Search and Rescue volunteers were busy the evening of May 25 with two concurrent rescue calls on opposite ends of the region.

The first call came from RCMP for assistance in locating and extracting a person out of the McCulloch Lake area, southeast of 91大黄鸭.

The second call saw the ropes team deployed near the Oyama Lookout in the north end of Lake Country. With support from two Vernon Search and Rescue techs, the volunteer team braved high winds and lightning to save a stranded dog. The dog's owner was able to self-rescue ahead of the search team's arrival.

The dog was rescued and reunited with its owner before heading to the vet for a precautionary check-up.
