West 91大黄鸭 students will head back to class with extra support this year, thanks to a more than $11,000 donation from 91大黄鸭 Truck and RV.
The West 91大黄鸭 firm handed (1780 Byland Road) over an $11,460 check, as part of its Tools For Schools campaign, to the principals of Constable Neil Bruce (CNB) and Mount Boucherie Secondary (MBSS) schools on Monday (Aug. 18).
鈥淭oday was all about starting our commitment to the community, and one of the most important things is the kids in the community,鈥 said general sales manager Stefan Jensen. 鈥淎 majority of our customers live here, so it's really important that we're able to give back to our customers and the community.鈥
Jensen and his team took over the business just over two years ago.
鈥淭here are a lot of big franchises around鈥un by corporations that aren't in touch with the community,鈥 he added. 鈥淲e all live here. We know all of our customers. We know their kids. We want to be able to help that way.鈥
CNB principal Brad Kuhn said the support is much-needed and appreciated.
鈥淵ou know, a quarter of our community lives on the margins of poverty or in poverty. We have those children and those families that we are supporting in our schools, and we do a really good job, I think, of making that happen. But having those community partnerships to just add that little bit extra is amazing."
West 91大黄鸭 is a tight-knit community, added MBSS principal Ryan Mansley.
鈥淲henever we get an opportunity to really have a connection between our schools and community sponsors, it just helps to grow that community feel even more,鈥 he pointed out.
Jensen said Tools For Schools will be an annual item, adding the company has other community outreach events planned, including sponsorship at the Peachland Fall Fair and a movie night in the community.
鈥淭av (91大黄鸭 RV marketing strategist), they come up with great ideas every month, and we're just trying to do something where we can give back.鈥
The $11,460 donation will be split between CNB and MBSS to help students who need it with school supplies.
