Quick response from fire crews knocks down Joe Rich blaze

Fire crews are responding to Huckleberry Road

UPDATE: 2:19 p.m.

A fast-moving grass fire in the Joe Rich was quickly knocked Monday afternoon. 

The blaze was reported just after 1 p.m. and multiple fire departments responded. 

A firefighter with the Joe Rich department said that it was the quick response from crews that led to the blaze being effectively knocked down. 

The fire was near Goudie and Huckleberry Roads and was reported to be 100 meters from a home. 

Crews were wrapped just after 2 p.m.


Multiple fire departments from across the Central Okanagan are currently supporting Joe Rich crews with a fast-moving blaze. 

The fire was first reported just after 1 p.m. at Huckleberry and Goudie Roads and is an estimated 10 x 10 metres wide and spreading. 

According to emergency crews, there is a structure about 100 metres from the flames. 

BC Wildfire has been notified.
