A police presence on 91大黄鸭's waterfront on Thursday, July 17 ended with a man being taken into custody.
Around 8:30 p.m., RCMP were notified of a man in distress in Okanagan Lake near Sunset Drive and Water Street, close to Tugboat Beach.
The 91大黄鸭 Fire Department and BC emergency services (BCEHS) also attended the scene, attempting to get the man to come out the lake and safely to shore.
However, the man 鈥渃ontinuously refused and became verbally confrontational with police,鈥� said 91大黄鸭 RCMP Media Relations Officer Cpl. Allison Konsmo.
After a lengthy period of time and negotiations, the man's safety became a concern.
According to Konsmo, officers successfully used a high-risk rescued, taking the man safely into custody. He was also assessed by BCEHS.
The RCMP is continuing its investigation.
