Superintendent Chris Goebel has been appointed as the new officer in charge of the 91大黄鸭 RCMP Detachment.

鈥淪uperintendent Goebel is a highly respected policing professional with more than two decades of frontline and leadership experience across British Columbia,鈥 Mayor Tom Dyas said in a statement. 鈥淏ut what makes this appointment especially meaningful is that he is also a proud member of our community.鈥

Supt. Goebel lives in 91大黄鸭 with his family here and also coaches minor hockey.

鈥淗e shares the same streets, schools, and rinks as the people he serves,鈥 Dyas added. 鈥淭hat kind of community connection brings an invaluable level of understanding, accountability, and responsiveness.鈥

The mayor鈥檚 statement also noted that Supt. Goebel鈥檚 appointment marks a significant milestone for the city.

鈥淔or the first time in our history, the officer in charge will be focused solely on 91大黄鸭. This shift in our policing structure strengthens local oversight, sharpens our public safety strategy, and ensures we have leadership dedicated to meeting the unique needs and challenges of our city.鈥

With Supt. Goebel at the helm of his own community and a structure that puts 91大黄鸭 first, 鈥渨e are better positioned to address complex issues and to ensure a strong and trusted police presence in our city,鈥 Dyas added.

Supt. Goebel takes over from Supt. Kara Triance who retired in December 2024 after 24 years of service.

Triance was the first female officer in charge of the 91大黄鸭 RCMP detachment and held the position from 2020, when she was promoted to superintendent.
