Flushing sends high-velocity water through hydrants to clear out sediment that builds up in older pipes. While this work is underway, residents may notice lower water pressure or cloudy, discoloured water.
If that happens, the city recommends running cold taps until the water clears. Anyone whose water doesn鈥檛 clear after 10 minutes should call 778-797-2246.
As a precaution, homes in the affected zones are under a temporary water quality advisory. Parents are asked not to use tap water to mix baby formula while flushing is happening in their area.
Residents can also access a bulk filling station with safe drinking water at Shannon Lake and Asquith roads by bringing clean bottles.
Flushing takes place from 7:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. on weekdays, with possible evening or weekend work, and is expected to be complete by Sept. 2.
Updates, including future street lists, will be shared on the city鈥檚 social media pages and on its .
