Cyclists across 91大黄鸭 and the Central Okanagan are encouraged to hit the road as GoByBike Week returns from May 31 to June 6.
The week-long event features free community activities, prize giveaways, and a message about the benefits of active transportation.
鈥淭his province-wide initiative promotes a healthy, active lifestyle, and contributes to reducing greenhouse gas emissions. One more bike commuting means one less car on the road,鈥 said Suzanne Therrien, transportation planner for the City of 91大黄鸭.
The city has recently expanded its cycling infrastructure, opening three new active transportation corridors on Sutherland, Leckie, and Ballou Roads. Therrien says these additions make it easier than ever for residents to choose cycling as a practical and enjoyable way to get around.
Throughout the week, Celebration Stations will be set up at various locations, offering free snacks, giveaways, and a chance to connect with fellow riders:
- Monday, June 2 (7鈥9 a.m.): Kickoff at Waterfront Park (330 Meikle Avenue)
- Tuesday, June 3 (7鈥9 a.m.): Leckie and Springfield (Mission Creek Greenway Regional Park)
- Wednesday, June 4 (7鈥10 a.m.): Orchard Park Shopping Centre
- Thursday, June 5 (7鈥9 a.m.): Burtch and Sutherland (Salvation Army Parking Lot)
- Friday, June 6 (4鈥6 p.m.): Wrap-up event at Railside Brewery (1186 High Road)
Local businesses will host community stations throughout the week, offering refreshments, discounts, and other perks. A full list of participating locations is available on the .
Participants can register on the to log their rides and enter to win prizes. The top prize is a cycling adventure for two in Vietnam, courtesy of Exodus Travels.
Other prizes include a Pedego Electric Bike, a 2025 Giant Roam E-Bike, and gift cards to Orchard Park Shopping Centre, Urban Harvest, and Sweet Cloud Ice Cream. Other giveaways include yoga passes, cooking classes, and bike rental vouchers.
