The Chase RCMP responded to a 911 call for a "psychotic" incident, but were unable to locate the caller who had apparently moved on.

At approximately 1:56 p.m. on Aug. 11, the Chase detachment was contacted by the BC Ambulance Service after a 911 caller requested medical assistance stating he was "experiencing a possible psychotic episode" after attending a music festival.

The man also mentioned thoughts of "fleeing the country" before abruptly ending the call without giving his location.

"Police attended the area associated with the phone's signal but were unable to locate the individual," Const. Sarah Van Wilgenburg said in a media release, adding that festival staff had no knowledge of anyone in medical distress matching the description.

"The man was later located elsewhere in the province."
