This year鈥檚 70th Swim Across the Lake is underway in 91大黄鸭 and West 91大黄鸭.
Residents of the Central Okanagan clapped and cheered to the Black Eyed Peas鈥� I Gotta Feeling as the last swimmers entered Okanagan Lake鈥檚 water from West 91大黄鸭.
Today鈥檚 weather forecast is expected to reach a high of 28 C. Today鈥檚 event also has a new free event just for kids as part of the event鈥檚 70th anniversary.
A nine-year-old 91大黄鸭 resident has been training for the swim.
The race began in 1949 and is the longest-running and largest annual open water event in Canada.
Central Okanagan Search and Rescue tweeted that it was the largest race to date, with more than 1,300 swimmers.
