Reanne Holden launched herself into the world of volunteering primarily because of the people who volunteered to make the activities she's done from childhood a reality.
"I did a lot of things that involved people who volunteered their time. Now I'm older myself (at 29) it's my opportunity to give back. The biggest thing you can give is your time."
Reanne took her own athletic experience as a child through university basketball to inspire young women to challenge themselves and pursue their goals.
Recently she's added 91大黄鸭 Minor Basketball to her volunteering schedule, coaching a girls Grades 7 and 8 team.
Holden attributes her leadership success in such organizations as Special Olympics BC, and the 91大黄鸭 Family Y to the mentors who showed her what real leadership looks like.
A relative newcomer to 91大黄鸭, having moved here a little more than two years ago, Reanne has found that this city has a huge infrastructure gear specifically for volunteering.
"I'm always looking for new ways to volunteer. 91大黄鸭, as a community, really makes it easy to volunteer. I read the news events going on in 91大黄鸭, and 91大黄鸭 Community Resources is great."
Reanne's nominator for this Community Leader Award, Jonathan So, said she "exemplifies the qualities of a positive female role model."
