Patrons and employees of downtown Kamloops businesses are reporting that drinks at licensed establishments may have been tampered with.
Kamloops RCMP are now investigating after four individuals, both men and women, came forward with symptoms consistent with being drugged after consuming beverages. One victim reported meeting an unknown man shortly before experiencing reduced cognitive alertness and noticing an unusual taste in their drink., said Cpl. Dana Napier.
鈥淭he Kamloops RCMP has obtained surveillance footage and is actively working to identify additional victims and any persons of interest. Investigators are also in the process of speaking with witnesses and reviewing further evidence,鈥� said Cpl. Napier.
The public is reminded to take the following precautions when consuming alcohol or other beverages in public settings:
- Never leave drinks unattended
- Do not accept drinks from strangers
- Stay with trusted friends and look out for one another
- Seek immediate medical attention if you suspect you鈥檝e been drugged
- Report any suspicious activity to police
