Since July 19 the Town of Oliver has been under Stage 3 water restrictions after it had to take one of its wells offline.

The Rockcliffe well is one of the town's main water sources but had to be taken offline in order to address issues that had caused a boil water advisory just two days prior.

With the well offline, and all of the other wells running at capacity, the water that is able to be produced and stored for emergencies is limited, requiring conservation from all residents.

Under the tightened restrictions, residents are limited to being able to water one day a week, Wednesday for odd numbered properties and Fridays for even numbers.

The restrictions apply to water used for domestic watering and other consumption, but does not currently impact any properties that use canal water for irrigation.

Residents are encouraged to adjust their residential underground irrigation systems to water lawns, trees and shrubs between 7 p.m. and 9 a.m. on their watering day.

Residents with micro/drip irrigation are permitted one extra day of watering per week between 7 p.m and 9 a.m. on Saturday for odd-numbered properties and Tuesday for even-numbered properties.

Extra hand watering is also currently permitted for personal gardens, trees and shrubs between 7 p.m and 9 a.m.
