Update: crews work to fix sinkhole east of Sicamous

Paving planned for tomorrow

Update: May 16 3:30 p.m.

Crews are working to repair the sinkhole that damaged a portion of the Trans-Canada Highway 5 kilometres east of Sicamous. Both lanes of the highway are currently open but with a 70 km/h speed limit for the westbound lane.

Paving of the affected area is expected to begin tomorrow. The highway will be reduced to single lane alternating traffic during the paving.

Drivers, beware, if you鈥檙e heading out on the Trans-Canada Highway near Sicamous.

Drive BC is reporting a sinkhole in the westbound lane, about five kilometres east of Sicamous.

Traffic has been restricted to single lane alternating traffic in the eastbound lane.
