91大黄鸭-themed board game lands in Capital News office

Local resident Perry Gurniak found the board game at a thrift store

A 91大黄鸭-themed board game made its way from a thrift store to a resident鈥檚 home and now, the 91大黄鸭 Capital News office.

Perry Gurniak is the Capital News鈥 warehouse manager. When he鈥檚 not working, he spends his spare time looking for treasures in 91大黄鸭 thrift stores. Eight years ago, he found a Monopoly-like board game that featured 91大黄鸭 businesses, establishments, politicians and even Rotary club members.

He said he figured the game was made sometime in the 鈥90s.

Gurniak bought the game right away but never got around to playing it. But when the pandemic hit, he said he wanted to pass it on to someone else to play it as they isolate.

It eventually made its way to the Capital News office, so the team decided to play it.

The game features Rutland Senior Secondary, the city hall, and lists council members of the time, including Ben Lee.

鈥淚 heard there鈥檚 one about Vernon, but I鈥檝e never seen one. I鈥檝e heard about a Penticton version too,鈥 he said.

鈥淚t was a mystery to me. I don鈥檛 know who even invented that鈥 but 24 years ago, that鈥檚 a long time to have a board game that鈥檚 still in good condition like this.鈥
