The Revelstoke Cricket Club (RCC) is looking to make up for two tough weekends of losses when the Vernon-Coldstream-Lumby cricketers come to town this Sunday, July 20,.
The first Sunday of the month, July 6, saw RCC lose on home turf to the Okanagan Hawks Cricket Club, bowled out at 81 in 26 overs well into this summer's Interior Social Tournament.
The Hawks' Preet Brar was particularly fierce, ensuring low scoring by RCC across most of the eight overs he bowled and knocking out four opponents in three overs. He was crowned top bowler of the match.
RCC's Jaijeet Singh Sembhi made top three in batting with 13 runs and eight balls, while Navdeep Samra scored second-best bowler at eight overs.
The Vernon Strikers also won against RCC at Salmon Arm's Safeway fields last Sunday, July 13, in a comeback to their slim loss at Centennial Park on June 8. Vernon bowled RCC out at just 30 in 21 overs.
Matching Brar's feat the previous game, teammate Vatan Virk sent four RCC players out while bowling. He remarkably never let more than two runs by him in an over, across the eight overs he bowled.
The Strikers' Manav Khangura also played a tight game as bowler, namely in the 12th, 14th, 16th, 18th and 20th overs where he knocked out three opponents and allowed just three balls and three wickets.
Shubham Sharma of RCC achieved third-best batter of the fixture at 12 runs and 30 balls, and teammate Samra again notched top three for bowling with eight overs.
RCC currently sits at three wins out of 10 matches this season, with five more fixtures left including semifinals and finals at the end of August.
The club is also looking forward to a friendly series of six games hosted between Revelstoke, 91大黄鸭 and Calgary in September and October, to cap things off.
Now, RCC will fight to notch its fourth victory of the tournament against VCL (Vernon Coldstream Lumby) Cricket Club, which will arrive to Revelstoke hot off six wins from nine fixtures.
Spectators can catch RCC's match at Centennial Park this Sunday starting at 10 a.m.
