PHOTOS: Rocking and rolling at 'Best attended Lumby Days ever'

The annual family fair was a hit for the North Okanagan community

It's been just a few days, but Merna Alexander is beaming from what she called the "best attended Lumby Days ever."

"The weather cooperated and the live stage was rocking all weekend," said Alexander, who is one of the organizers of the family fair. "The Shooting Star Midway was full of action, and the Cruising the Okanagan Car show was full of amazing cars from all over B.C."

Thrash Wrestling, stunts from freestyle motocross athletes, a parade and much more dotted the three-day fair June 13-15.

Alexander lauded the free admission aspect, which allowed families to stroll through and take in all the sights.

The Lumby Airforce Flying Club also hosted its annual Air Races. Bill Goglin from Williams Lake took home the first-place paragliding prize. Goglin flew from Coopers Launch in Lumby to Revelstoke in just over six hours, reaching elevations as high as 10,000 feet.

Lumby's own Ike Burkhart won second, with Quebec City's Xavier Nadeau in third.

The hang gliding competition was won by Nelson's Evan Smith.

"Organizers are planning a special celebration for next year," said flying club organizer Randy Rauck. "2026 is the 50th year for the club so the Air Race will be special."
