Powerhouse picked up provincial honours at Mainstage in Fort St. John

A local theatre group is radiating after claiming several provincial awards.

Powerhouse Theatre picked up some hardware at Mainstage 2025 in Fort St. John from July 6 to 12.

Hosted by Theatre BC, Mainstage is British Columbia鈥檚 premier provincial drama festival, celebrating the very best of community theatre from across the province.

The event featured six top productions, hands-on workshops, and professional adjudications.

Powerhouse's production of Radium Girls earned two standout performance awards:

鈥 Best Ensemble - Radium Girls

鈥 Best Actor in a Male Role - Anthony Yskes

Powerhouse also made a mark in the province-wide Graphics Competition:

鈥 Best Poster - Ophelia Chooses

鈥 Best Program - Radium Girls

鈥淭his experience has been absolutely unforgettable,鈥 said Anthony Yskes, recipient of Best Actor in a Male Role.

鈥淭o share the stage with such a passionate cast and see our work recognized at this level is incredibly humbling. On behalf of the entire team at Powerhouse, I want to thank our community. These wins belong to all of Vernon and the Okanagan. Your support makes it possible for us to tell these stories.鈥

Powerhouse now has its sights on 2026, when Mainstage comes to Vernon, bringing the best of B.C. community theatre to town.
