It's like the Okanagan's legendary lake monster knew it was his/her time to shine.
Thursday, Aug. 7, is National Sea Serpent Day (as mentioned in the above second photo, courtesy of the Museum and Archives of Vernon). Now, while we couldn't find an actual photo of the Okanagan's very own legend, Ogopogo, we did find a photo of Ogie's long suspected home. That being Squally Point near Peachland.
Well...
As luck would have it, we received a note from a man named Stuart on Wednesday, Aug. 6 鈥� the day before National Sea Serpent Day. Here's what Stuart wrote:
"I was sitting on my deck on a calm evening and saw the water start to swirl going south then suddenly turned to the north and something appeared on the water that I immediately captured with my phone!
"It seemed very large and long and then suddenly disappeared! I did snap a few photos and wish at the time I would have videoed. I have had a property above Lake Okanagan for 23 years and have never seen anything quite like this."
Stuart's pictures are attached to the story, including the lead photo. We have reached out to him for information.
