Update: Wildfire near east Penticton subdivision now held

The blaze is over a hectare in size, and is past the Penticton Reservoir along the Ridgedale Trail

Update: 11:30 am.

The BC Wildfire Service says a wildfire near Penticton is now being held at one-hectare.

The blaze, which was discovered south of Campbell Mountain, near Sendero Canyon subdivision east of Penticton, was discovered around 10:30 a.m. and is believed to have been human-caused.

There were no evacuation alerts or orders associated with the fire.

BC Wildfire Service (BCWS) and municipal fire crews have responded to a brush fire near Penticton.

The blaze is over a hectare in size, and is south of Campbell Mountain, near the Sendero Canyon subdivision, east of Penticton. It is approximately 200 metres from homes in the area according to the BCWS map.

Helicopters are bucketing the fire, and Penticton Fire Rescue is assisting several BC forestry crews at the scene.

The blaze was discovered just after 10:30 a.m. on Monday (Aug. 25), and is listed as out of control by BCWS. It is believed to be human-caused.
