Intense summer storm cells sidelined traffic on Highway 97 in the Central Cariboo on August 2 as a severe thunderstorm moved through the region.
According to Environment Canada, hail as large as a nickel is possible in areas. Some probably close to that size were falling in spots along Highway 97, with the intensity of the storm causing some drivers to pull over.
In both directions, vehicles came to a stop around 140 Mile as it became difficult or impossible to see the road, with heavy rain, wind and hail raining down on the road.
Thunder and lightning passed through and trees were coming down in some spots.
Environment Canada advises people to take shelter as the storm moves into their area, finding shelter or protecting themselves from falling debris and hail.
So far only a few power outages have been reported, with BC Hydro showing one outage and 249 customers impacted in the Interior, and three outages and 573 customers impacted in the Thompson and Shuswap areas.
