Five people have been displaced from a home after fire in West 91大黄鸭 on Thursday night.
Just after 7 p.m. on Aug. 7, West 91大黄鸭 Fire Rescue (WKFR) was called to reports of a blaze on Sandstone Drive.
Upon arrival, crews found flames coming from the back of the home which had extended to the attic. Quick action from fire crews prevented the blaze from fully consuming the roof, significantly limiting damage to the home.
Five people were home at the time, and one person being send to 91大黄鸭 General Hospital with minor burn injuries.
The residents have been displaced from the home for the time being, but it's believed they have insurance. They are being assisted by Regional Emergency Support Services.
While the blaze remains under investigation, it is not suspicious and was "likely being caused by an outdoor cooking appliance," said WKFR deputy fire chief Brent Watson.
WKFR attended the scene with five engines, two safeties and a command unit. BC Ambulance, RCMP, BC Hydro and Fortis all also were on scene.
