The District of Lake Country is inviting residents to help shape the future of their community.

Staff have begun a full review and update of the Official Community Plan (OCP), a guiding document that sets the vision for how Lake Country will grow and develop over the next 20 years.

To get more people involved, the district is going mobile this summer. Starting Friday, July 18, residents will find a pop-up tent at the Lake Country Farmer鈥檚 Market and at Live! in Lake Country events throughout the season.

鈥淭his is about listening to our community,鈥 a district media release stated. 鈥淲e want to know what matters to you鈥攚hether it's housing, parks, transportation, or how to protect the natural environment.鈥

The OCP affects everything from where new homes are built to what kind of businesses can open in different neighbourhoods. The last major update was over a decade ago.

The review is still in the early stages, and there will be plenty of chances to get involved in the months ahead.

Residents can also to read more, ask questions, and sign up for email updates.
