A grass fire was sparked near Polson Park and Galaxy Cinemas Thursday morning.
Vernon Fire Rescue Services were quick to extinguish the blaze south of the Highway 6 railway bridge across the tracks from the park just after 10 a.m. July 17.
The firefighters received a raucous round of cheers from two young fans, watching them put out the fire while standing a safe distance away in the shade with two family members.
