The wildfire north of Seymour Arm grew to 10 hectares overnight and remains classified as out of control.

A fire discovered in rural Shuswap on Aug. 25 grew overnight and is now 10 hectares in size.

Located 28 kilometres north of Seymour Arm at Cayenne Creek, the fire is classified as out of control, meaning the BC Wildfire Service (BCWS) anticipates it will continue to grow beyond its current borders.

There are currently 23 firefighters and a response officer from BCWS on site, two helicopters, and six pieces of heavy equipment also responding along with three water tenders.

The BCWS lists lightning as the suspected cause, with temperatures expected to remain in the high 20s throughout the week, contributing to dry conditions.
