An intoxicated Salmon Arm man spent a night in cells got a warning for making false 911 calls after five reports of theft in one night.

A dazed and confused Salmon Arm man received a warning from police following numerous unfounded calls to 911.

At 11:30 p.m. on Aug. 2, Salmon Arm RCMP received yet another call from a man after four prior reports that night about his car and credit cards having been stolen – all found to be false. The same 38-year-old man then reported he had $2,300 in cash stolen from him at Boston Pizza.

"Police located the man at a local restaurant, credit cards in hand and intoxicated by suspected drugs," Const. Andrew Hodges said in a media release.

The man was arrested for public mischief and being intoxicated in a public place, and placed in police cells until he was "sober enough to understand calling 911 and making false reports was a criminal offence."
