Some bumpy roads are getting attention around town.
The City of Vernon is gearing up to improve local travel with the launch of its 2025 Road Rehabilitation Program.
Approximately 5.8 kilometres of roads are getting $1.1 million in attention.
Paving work is anticipated to begin the week of Aug. 18, starting with 9845 to 9900 Eastside Rd., and continue through September.
Further Eastside Road improvements begin Sept. 22 from Okanagan Landing Road to Kokanee Road.
Typically paving will occur from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. with the exception of scheduled night work from 7 p.m. to 7 a.m.
Night work will start Sept. 8 on 25th Avenue, from 34th to 35th St.
So far the city has already completed Sarsons Road from Middleton Way to the city border, and the downtown lane south of 29th Avenue.
"Investing in the maintenance of Vernon鈥檚 road network is essential for managing long-term costs and extending the lifespan of roads," the city said. "The network is inspected annually, with roads prioritized for repair, often involving milling and asphalt resurfacing.
"We appreciate the patience of motorists, residents and businesses during road rehabilitation work."
