The festive season will be on display at the Summerland Seniors Village for a Christmas in July community event.
The event, on Friday, July 25, will run from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the facility at 12803 Atkinson Rd.
It will feature photos with Santa and the elves, ornament painting, a festive photo booth, a dunk tank and a barbecue with treats and refreshments.
Harley Elasoff, community relations manager at the seniors facility, said this is the second year Summerland Seniors Village is holding a special event in the summer.
A year earlier, an Olympic-themed event was held, to coincide with the Paris 2024 Summer Olympics. That year, around 500 people attended. The facility partnered with the Special Olympics.
This year, Summerland Seniors Village is working with NeighbourLink and its holiday hamper program.
Elasoff said the July 25 event is designed to offer something for all ages.
He added that while the facility will not be transformed into a winter wonderland, some of the staff and volunteers will be wearing holiday-themed clothing.
鈥淚t will be Christmas in a summer aspect,鈥� he said.
鈥淚t鈥檚 going to be a lot of fun and there will be lots of laughter.鈥�
While the event is primarily a community celebration, Elasoff said there will be opportunities for those who wish to have a tour of the seniors care facility.
