Residents of a Shannon Lake neighbourhood are fed up with a lack of police attention on a persistent problem.
鈥淥nce a month we鈥檙e getting broken into,鈥 said Mike Young, a resident of Shannon Way, a street that鈥檚 being hard hit by a prowler.
鈥淚 think something should be done about it鈥ut it costs police more to find this guy and prosecute him than it would to go out and give speeding tickets. The criminals are getting a freebie.鈥

Without other options, Young decided to cast some light on the issue. This weekend he posted several clips of surveillance footage his neighbour took on his Facebook account and already it鈥檚 had more than 1,200 shares and 60,000 views.
鈥淢y truck and my neighbour鈥檚 truck, both got broken into and several thousand dollars worth of tools were stolen,鈥 he said.
鈥淢y biggest concern, isn鈥檛 the property lost, though. I don鈥檛 care about my tools. They鈥檙e just things. It鈥檚 the fact the guy tried the neighbour鈥檚 door鈥攖hat gave me the biggest scare. There are two women who live there and the thought of what could have happened鈥hat鈥檚 the scary part.鈥
Young has turned the video footage over to police and all the tips that have come in from the video post.
He said several people claim to know who the prowler is.
Until something comes of it, however, Young said he fears he and his neighbours will just have to wait for the next break in because there鈥檚 no other way to deal with the monthly occurrence.
