The OCCA Mid-Autumn Festival took place on Saturday, Sept. 14, 2024.

May 1 marks the start of Asian Heritage Month and OCCA Communities Association is welcoming 91大黄鸭 residents to celebrate.

May officially became Asian Heritage Month in 2002 to celebrate and reflect on the contributions of Canadians of Asian heritage to the growth of the country.

An opening forum is scheduled for May 3 at 2 p.m. at Metro Hub. The forum is free for everyone and will include performances, refreshments, and discussions.

Throughout the month, the Okanagan Regional Library on Ellis Street will have an Asian Heritage exhibition with a focus on Asian Canadians and immigrants in the Okanagan. A movie week will be hosted at the library from May 12-16 and the 91大黄鸭 Art Gallery is opening to families on Sundays through May to feature Asian art and crafts for kids.

To close out Asian Heritage Month, OCCA is hosting a free multicultural showcase at Immaculate Conception Church on Sutherland Ave. From 4:30-9:30 p.m., people are invited to check out info booths, catch intercultural performances, and try some Asian cuisine.
