Both the Okanagan and Cariboo regions are under weather advisories on Saturday afternoon, Aug. 2.
Environment Canada has issued a severe thunderstorm watch for the Okanagan from Osoyoos up north to Revelstoke, and as far west as Ashcroft. Meanwhile, Kamloops, Ashcroft, Highway 1 down to Hope and up north of Williams Lake is under a special air quality watch.
"Conditions are favourable for the development of severe thunderstorms that may be capable of producing strong wind gusts, large hail and heavy rain," said Environment Canada. "Heavy rain can cause flash flooding and significant reductions to visibility."
The special air quality watch is due to wildfire smoke in the area and is expected to stay for 24-48 hours.
