Prime Minister-elect Mark Carney is set to head to Washington, D.C. May 6 in his first in-person meeting with his U.S. counterpart.
Carney will travel to Washington D.C. on Monday (May 5) to meet with U.S. President Donald Trump the following day.
It will be the first in-person meeting between the two leaders since Carney became leader of the Liberal Party of Canada on March 10. The two have spoken since Carney was elected and formed a minority government on April 28.
A news release from the Prime Minister's Office said the meeting will focus "both the immediate trade pressures and the broader future economic and security relationship between the two sovereign nations."
