Those who dedicate their time to volunteering across the Okanagan and Similkameen will soon be honoured with a free breakfast in Penticton.

The city invites volunteers for food inside Rotary Park on Saturday, May 3, from 8 to 10 a.m.

"Community volunteers go above and beyond to improve the circumstances and way of life in Penticton," said Penticton Mayor Julius Bloomfield. "We are so much better off thanks to their work, and we are always grateful for, and in constant need of, their commitment to help others.鈥�

The breakfast is being held in recognition of National Volunteer Week, which runs from April 28 to May 3.

Volunteers are required to reserve their spots at the Penticton event by emailing the South Okanagan Similkameen Volunteer Centre at info@volunteercentre.info or calling 1-888-576-5661.

The first 100 attendees will receive a gift bag from the event sponsors and local businesses, according to event organizers.

Rotary Park is located at 185 Lakeshore Dr.
