Little Larry David is an American shorthair/Persian who was surrendered, without a name, to the Kamloops BC SPCA in 2023. He was rescued by Jen Zielinski, an animal advocate and BC SPCA volunteer of more than 12 years. LLD now lives the most wonderful life in 91大黄鸭.

Show us your cats!

That is what Aug. 8 is all about: a day to celebrate the feline and raise awareness about the number of cats that need to be rescued and adopted each year across Canada.

International Cat Day was created in 2002 as a way to help educate and inform people about cats and what is needed to help and protect them.

In the Interior of B.C., a group of dedicated volunteers from the have been working together to save lives and end the suffering of local animals in the region since 1996, spaying or neutering more than 47,500 pets since that time.

And, last year, the charity cared for more than 4,150 animals in the Okanagan and is on track to help even more this year.

The need to create animal welfare support specifically with cats is greater than ever as pet rescues such as OHS and the BC SPCA continue to help hundreds of felines each month, who have been abandoned, neglected and abused across the province.

The BC SPCA has recently been involved in several significant cat rescues, including the seizure of 34 Bengal cats from an irresponsible breeder, the intake of after their owner's death, and the rescue of kittens from hazardous living conditions.

So, this Friday, share a photo of your cat, its story and help your local animal rescue organization by donating or volunteering.
